To provide a complex example: when managing the delivery of brewery vessels for John Smith’s at Tadcaster, we were questioned on whether alternative modes of transport had been considered, including the possibility of using the River Ouse from Goole to York. Only after conducting a thorough feasibility study were we able to demonstrate that this option was not viable and, in turn, secure approval from the Department of Transport for road movement.
Moreover, possibly the shortest distance ever for one of our freight transport projects was the relocation of a training simulator from one side of Heathrow to the other, despite having to go round the perimeter road, a distance of less than five miles!
