Nowadays, most products contain one or more components manufactured from plastic. It could be anything from a modest switch, to a car bumper/crumple zone, a large drainage pipe and beyond.
The tool for the job is an injection moulding machine – comprising two units, the injection and clamp sections, both working at extreme pressures. In terms of size, once assembled, the machines range from a modest 15tons, to a massive 150tons – with even larger ones on the drawing board.
With every delivery, timing is critical. In all probability, production will have been temporarily suspended, a path cleared through the works, cranes standing by and engineers on hand to assemble, line and level, connect to services and commission – close and timely liaison with everyone concerned is paramount, something we like to think the STG Team excels at.
Just a few of the final products have included – urgent machines during the Covid crisis, engaged in the manufacture of testing kits – the production of the body for the range of Henry vacuum cleaners – also ice buckets, offered as an accessory, on Bentley cars.
We sometimes think that, over a 30 year period, it would be easier to list the items where STG has not been involved in, either directly or indirectly.
